  1. Do you ever miss the hospital?
Yes, I do. I'll actually get the urge to place an IV, or hang blood, etc. Very, very odd, I know! LOL I also miss the pay... ;) Then, I'll remember the stress, the crying, the exhaustion, and the...

  2. How busy is your office?
I like this. We have recently started logging in visits on the computer, instead of writing everything on our log sheet. It makes it way easier to check how many times "Suzy" has been in the Health...

  3. Blame the nurse!
I used that title because the doctor points a finger directly at the nurse (Is quoted as saying that a nurse should have stayed with the couple, and that the nurse was likely nervous about being in...

  4. How busy is your office?
I walked into a very similar situation! My school went through 3 or 4 school nurses within 2 years before I was hired. I couldn't believe my luck, when I got the job. But, I quickly realized that...

  5. New to this.. Feeling like maybe I made a mistake
Hang in there! It's only been 4 weeks. Being sick and working until 6 a couple times a week aren't helping matters... I'd hold off on covering the after school programs, until you feel more...

  6. Microwaves
I don't. I'd love to, since it's sometimes hard to even get to the faculty room to heat up my lunch. But, if I had one, I have a feeling that it would quickly become "everyone's" microwave......

  8. First week as a school nurse- advice needed
I don't think you did anything wrong! IMO, mom feels guilty that nobody was reachable by phone the first time you called. She is taking it out on you! Also, buckle fractures are so sneaky! When...

So, what did you end up doing?? Was the student sufficiently disinfected, to satisfy the teacher?? Did she run one of those germ lights over him?? LOL :cheeky:

  14. Do You Like Being A School Nurse?
LOVE it! Yes, I gripe and vent about it sometimes. But, ultimately, it's awesome. I was a SAHM for years, until my youngest started full day school. Then I was very lucky to fall into this job. ...

Both the doctor and the baby's father said that the nurse should have been there and wasn't. Knowing how bedside nursing is nowadays, the nurse was probably stretched very thin, and simply couldn't...

  18. When attending a traditional BSN program, are students told they're better than ADNs?
Wow, what an angry and insulting post. This person has a total of 3 posts here at AN. Two out of 3 involve tearing BSN nurses apart. And the third is just a rude, sarcastic comment. Very sad.

  19. When attending a traditional BSN program, are students told they're better than ADNs?
Nope. But like it or not, if you want to be promoted to a higher level job, that doesn't include wiping butts, you'll often need that BSN.

  21. When attending a traditional BSN program, are students told they're better than ADNs?
I don't comment on these ADN vs BSN threads, and usually don't even read them. They are always filled with such negativity. Based upon this title, it sounded like a more interesting discussion. But,...
