  1. Sexism in a primarily female dominated field
Ditto on the single female. Because I don't have kids, don't attend school, not married, they assume you can work whenever. And god forbid when they ask you to stay late and you have no...

  6. yikes! new nurse/old nurse conflict
I would say "you have your ways and I have mine." Patients all the time will tell you "nurse xyz lets me _____." I say "I'm not nurse xyz."

  7. Pronouncing Death
Same as CCM. Confirm death, call family (most know that their family member is near death and aren't surprised. I just say "I'm sorry to let you know that X just passed away"), call for an order to...

  8. Ethics, googling patients, and organ transplantation
I see nothing wrong with googling a patient but you shouldn't reach out to them or in any way let them know you were snooping.

I think it's offensive but I don't think it's that offensive enough to ask people to stop.

  10. New Grad & First Job in LTC - Lots of Overtime/Doubles - How Much Is Too Much?
You are not the staffing coordinator. Do not feel bad about not working OT. Work tires me out. I maybe work 1/2 an extra shift once a month if that. And no I don't answer my phone when they call.

  11. Mistakes are Inevitable: No one is perfect.
My first med error I went home and sobbed for an hour straight. I felt like the most awful human being in the world. Fortunately my patient ended up okay. But still very scary.

  13. Nurse giving discontinue medications to other patients
    1) get an e-kit 2) technically borrowing is wrong...it is "fraud." However that's not to say I haven't done it. When you're working NOCs calling the doctor to hold a med because it's missing is no...

If I were to get a penny for every patient I've had that's fallen...well I would have maybe 10 cents lol. Brush it off. It's not your fault, you didn't push him or forget to plug his alarm in....

  15. Are you good at charting in "real time?"
