  1. What is more reccomendable for nurses now a days?
I am so glad my employer doesn't color code the nursing staff. I always wear a print top. I don't think I own a solid colored top.

  2. Cops and Nurses
About 10 years ago, I had a burnt out headlight and was speeding (a little). I got pulled over one night. The cop asked me where I was coming from. I told him work, and said I looked familiar. I...

  3. Call Lights
I had a frustrating weekend with the call lights, since many of our patients seemed to be very needy. I am amazed how a person is able to ignore the same sound that is driving me crazy. Some of the...

  4. Do you think physicians could pass the NCLEX-RN?
Since the NCLEX tests your nursing knowledge, and not your intelligence, I think with a good amount of preparation (since it's specific to a completely different scope of practice) an MD could pass.

  5. Never before have I been so disrespected by co-workers in the workplace
Lol @ paleontologist! That raised my eyebrow, too. If I were at a job which I felt unappreciated and disrespected, I'd look for something else. I know a lot of times that's easier said than...

  7. Doctors not talking to nurses
For the most part there is really good communication between our doctor and the nurses, especially with our hospitalists. But there's one MD in particular that comes in, sits down at the computer...

  8. Nurses that don't work holidays?
When I worked in urgent care we had short hours on the major holidays. If I can recall, we'd be open until 3 or 5 pm. So maybe even in a clinic a nurse can get stuck working some part of a holiday....

  10. How often does this happen?
This is what happened to me about a year ago. My 1st job as a new RN. Was devastated at the time, but ended up being the best thing for me. I've been on my current job for almost 9 months and I love...

  11. When someone asks you what you do for a living, do you say "nurse" or "RN" or "LVN"?
I say I'm a nurse. If they probe further I will say RN. Nobody asks me if I'm an RN or LPN now, but when I was an LPN for some reason they seemed to ask that question a lot.

  14. If we make BSN the entry level degree, we should be paid more
I have my ADN. I agree BSN should be paid more. It's a higher educational level. Most professions compensate for the difference between associate and bachelor...why not nursing? It probably wouldn't...

I see it as a perk, too. Nobody's getting rich off our differential, that's for sure. Unless my shift diff was $5.00 or more an hour, I probably wouldn't miss it.

  23. Kicked out of class for a "HIPAA" violation?
