Keiser University Undergraduate Programs

Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)

Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Nursing prepares students to be Registered Nurses. Curriculum is based on applied principles of biological, physical, psychological, and social sciences.

Campus locations:  Clearwater, Fort Lauderdale , Jacksonville, Lakeland, Melbourne, Miami, New Port Richey, Orlando, Port St. Lucie, Sarasota, Tallahassee, Tampa, and West Palm Beach.  Upon graduation the student will be able to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam then apply for licensure to practice as a registered nurse.

Nursing, BSN (Accelerated)

This program is available on the following Florida campuses:  Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota

The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered to students who have previously received a Bachelor’s degree in another field and now want to pursue nursing.  Students can complete the program of study in four semesters (after general education credits and prerequisites are evaluated and/or completed).

Nursing, BSN (FastTrack)

This program is available on the following Florida campuses:  Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota

The Fast Track Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is an intense program for those who want to commit to completing the program in four semesters (after general education credits and prerequisites are evaluated and/or completed).

Nursing, BSN (RN to BSN)

This program is available on the following Florida campuses:  Clearwater, Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale Online Division - eCampus, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Melbourne, Miami, New Port Richey, Orlando, Pembroke Pines, Port St. Lucie, San Marcos, Carazo, Nicaragua, Sarasota, Tallahassee, Tampa, West Palm Beach

The RN to BSN program at Keiser builds upon the critical thinking, leadership, management, research, and physical assessment skills already possessed by the nurse who has an Associate of Science in Nursing degree and is licensed as a Registered Nurse. The curriculum also focuses on cultural, political, economic, and social issues that affect patients and influence healthcare delivery through online, classroom and clinical components.

All of the focus in the RN-BSN program incorporates competencies as outlined in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice and the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice.

Prerequisites for RN-BSN Program

Graduation from either an associate degree nursing program or a diploma nursing program

Nursing Diploma, International, Associate Degree in Applied Science in Nursing, and applicants who attended a non-accredited academic institution must satisfy selected prerequisites (or equivalent with a “C” or higher) before beginning upper division major courses.

Nursing, BSN (Traditional)

This program is available on the following Florida campuses:  Flagship Residential Campus, Fort Lauderdale

The Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered for students beginning their first professional nursing program. This program is eight semesters in length.

Prerequisites for Major Courses

Admission requirements include:

  1. High school GPA of 3.2 or higher AND
  2. Either SAT 1150 (taken 5/2016 and later) or 1590 (taken earlier than 5/2016), ACT 23, or Wonderlic 25
  3. Acceptable background check and drug screening
  4. Required health and immunizations screening
  5. Personal interview with the nursing program
  6. 3.0 average GPA for general education courses
  7. “B” grade or better in the selected prerequisite courses

Keiser University Graduate Programs

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

The Keiser University Master of Science in Nursing degree is for advanced practice nurses focusing and grounded in the holistic caring for self, others, and the profession.

Program Overview

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing reflect the profession’s continuing call for imagination, transformative thinking, and evolutionary change in graduate education. The program at Keiser University follows this format.

Admission Requirements:

  1. Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  2. Active unrestricted professional Registered Nurse license

Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Master’s Certificate

The MSN program is available on the following Florida campuses:  Clearwater, Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Graduate School, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Melbourne, Miami, New Port Richey, Orlando, Pembroke Pines, Port St. Lucie, Sarasota, Tallahassee, Tampa, West Palm Beach

Graduates are required to take the Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certification Examination in order to be licensed and to work as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Admission Requirements

  1. Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from a regionally or nationally accredited university
  2. Minimum nursing graduate level GPA of 3.2 or higher
  3. Active unrestricted registered nurse and/or advanced practice nursing license

An admission decision is based on a combination of a student’s academic performance, previous clinical experience, letters of recommendation, a clear criminal background check and drug screen, and an interview with MSN FNP faculty.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

This program is available on the following Florida campuses:  Fort Myers, Graduate School, Lakeland, Sarasota, Tampa, West Palm Beach

Graduates of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program are those who are interested in advancing their career through increasingly complex practice, faculty, and leadership roles in nursing. The curriculum focuses on incorporating nursing science with knowledge from ethics, biophysical, psychosocial, analytical, and organizational sciences as the basis for the highest level of evidence-based nursing practice.

Admission Requirements

  1. Master’s degree in nursing from a regionally or nationally accredited university
  2. Minimum nursing graduate level GPA of 3.2 or higher
  3. Active unrestricted registered nurse and/or advanced practice nursing license

Admission decisions are based on a combination of a student’s Master’s level academic performance, GRE score, letters of recommendation, personal declaration statement, and an interview with DNP faculty. Interviews may be conducted via teleconference.

Accreditation

Keiser University’s Associate Degree Nursing program, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Melbourne, Miami, Orlando, Sarasota, Tallahassee, Tampa, and West Palm Beach campuses, holds continuing accreditation status by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The Port St. Lucie Associate Degree Nursing Program holds candidacy status, effective May 2016 – May 2018.

The Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing at Keiser University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

The Master of Science in Nursing Degree at Keiser University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

    My Experience

    I'd recommend it as it is a good program as far as fast paced goes. However, it is very expensive and the monthly cost are increasing.

    I have had no issues with staff but I do wish they were a little more hands on with us.
