Do you ever run out of things to do? I find that I am finished charting, ice packs are made, everything is organized and put in it's place, and things get pretty quite (some days). What do you do on slow days (not that I am complaining)?
I read allnurses.com.....
I try to get get caught upon vision and hearing (especially my coded kids).
I review my emergency plans, thin out charts, update information.
When I can I try to get into the classroom (rarely does THAT ever happen)
But I also surf the web looking for training opportunities http://www.emsworld.com/
is one that is geared toward , uh, EMS but there are great links to training and medical information regarding the prehospital patient. http://www.firehouse.com/
also has some training information as well.
I use Medscape. I look at other state schoool nurse websites NY has a super one with lots of forms and ideas.
Hope this helps
