The question was raised about how hard the exam was--I used the NASN certification review book (which has practice tests for each chapter) and made my own flash cards (I ended up with over 200 flash cards) and flipped through them daily since Christmas. The test is 250 questions and covers 5 areas: Health Appraisal, Health Problems/Nursing Management, Health Promotion/Disease Prevention, Special Health Issues and Professional Issues. It was pretty much what I prepared for. Here's a crazy thought: the last time I took an exam was my State Boards in 1975! Certification is optional in my state, I just wanted to see if I could pass.
