by ro2878 Jan 6Hi All,
I am a new school nurse and am putting together a binder for a sub RN (should I need to call for one).
I am trying not to be too detailed and and would love to know what things/instructions you leave.
Thanks!

What helps the most? The front page that she does in advance any time she knows I'm coming. She lists the meds and students that are regulars, she tells me about what's been trending(Like resp or gastric bugs she's seeing) and who's having "Issues". I work at a school that's small and serves preK-12 so it's a diverse student population. I wish she'd tell me who the frequent flyers were among the older students and why they're frequent flyers. because that's always the hardest to navigate. If they are ill, yeah they go home...but if the lack objective symptoms and you sent them home for social reasons? you are doing them no favors. It's a hard guess for a sub to make. Also...what documentation do you want them to make? If you will enter it into a computer later make sure you have all the fields. If you want them to enter it themselves consider a guest account with access to the program. I don't like using other people's computer profiles, it feels like you are going through someone elses purse!Hi All, I am a new school nurse and am putting together a binder for a sub RN (should I need to call for one). - Jan 7 by 100kidsI have a sub folder which gives the daily run down on my day, general things she will be responsible for, list of people to ask for help if she needs it, a student list per grade and who gets meds and when. Just basics. In there I also have the computer password for my sub nurse account not mine. There she can access the files I need her to but not my personal files. I like to give my subs heads up on those kids that come often and what works with them. Anything to help make their day go smoothly. Getting subs is often difficult so I want to make subbing for me the best experience possible so I can get people back.
