Growth and Development

by BearLV

I am a first year school nurse preparing to teach growth and development to 4th and 5th grade students. Specifically the class will be an overview of the physical, social, and emotional changes associated with puberty. I have a video that does a good job of addressing the physical changes, but basically skims over the social and emotional aspects - i.e. changing peer relationships, body image, self esteem, etc. Does anyone out there have any resources or ideas on this? I would appreciate any help that could be offered.
Thanks!

Hi there...as a nurse and a mom who just had her daughter go thru these classes, I highly recommend using the American Girl series of books on growing up as part of your curriculum. I used them with my daughter and the school nurse used them for the first time last year and said they were perfect! I'm not sure about boys, but I think I have seen some books at Borders that are kind of the same!

Good Luck!!
