Were you a "sub" before getting full time?

  1. I have noticed a few school nurse jobs in my area recently. I have applied, but not heard anything back.

Today, it occurred to me... Do the full time positions usually end up going to substitute nurses, who wanted full time but took sub jubs to get a foot in the door? I always heard that it was very hard to land a school nurse job. So, I was surprised to even see any jobs posted.

Maybe I should bite the bullet and apply to be a sub for now? My concern with that is that I imagine you don't get much notice when they call you to come in. So, I would have to scramble to find a way to get my kids on and off the school bus.

    What are your thoughts?
