I have nephew just dx'd with this  and he had C.Diff as well!!! Ugh Anyway I am looking for credible info to gather for he and his parents. He is 17, smart, athletic and a senior in HS. If you have had students with this what have been some successful interventions? I have had kids w IBS but just want to see if there is anything else out there I can refer them to.

Many thanks!!

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but here is a link to "Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis: a guide for teachers and other school personnel" from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America: CCFA: Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis: A guide for teachers and other school personnel.

Also a guide for parents here: CCFA: Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis: A Guide for Parents.

I've had some students with IBD and certain medications have helped, but being able to visit me and use my bathroom discretely (and sometimes change clothes if needed) is key. Link above talks about 504 plans and accommodations in school that can help with management (including notes about transition to college and dorm room accommodations like a private bathroom since that is on the horizon).

I have a child with Inflammatory Bowel Disease - Crohn's. The doctor sent over a generic 3 page list of interventions and needs for his 504. A lot of it though is educational interventions such as tests, homework, missed days...... I will be happy to email those over to you tomorrow if you want. It doesn't include his name/doctor or location so no private info will be included. I think i can scan it from my printer to computer in my clinic. Just let me know.

You are awesome school nurses to think about a 504 for college dorms! I left college because I couldn't share a bathroom w/3 other girls, it was too embarrassing (I developed IBS my 1st year of college). My life could have been so different if I could have had some privacy.
