UGH, just back after 3 back-to-back Snow Days. Kids are CRAZY - page 2

I am in MA and we had last Thursday, Friday and then yesterday off for snow. Most annoying part is none of them really NEEDED to be closed, roads were cleared pretty quickly and we got a lot less... Read More

Our Winter Break was Christmas and New Years.

We've had 3 snow days and 2 late-start days. So far.

Depends on when you start the year too! Our last day is May 26, but we started August 17th and this year I think the nurses have to be back on August 7th.
We started Sept. 9th, but like I said, we don't really have sporadic days off, only 5 all year. It makes for long stretches of 5 day weeks. Really makes it monotonous.

I'm in Maine. We had a full day off last Wednesday. We had a half-day on Thursday (counts as a full school day if we get lunches in, which we did!). We probably got 10 inches or so total from those storms. We got walloped on Sun into Monday. My area got 2 feet of snow, with near blizzard conditions. At one point, Maine DOT ordered snowplows off the road because visibility was so bad. We actually got the call for school to be cancelled Monday on SUNDAY, which never happens. And we got the call on MONDAY afternoon that school was going to be cancelled on Tuesday, which has also never happened. There was no way that people were going to be dug out in enough time for everyone to make it to school on Tues.

So we are here today, with another storm that is supposed to dump 12-18 more inches on us. It's not snowing yet, but it FEELS like snow, if you know what I mean. Depending on how fast the snow comes, we may be in for another half day today, with another possible day off tomorrow. We don't do delays here. And we have February break next week.

There was an 8 foot snow drift on my roof. It is hard to see around corners when you are driving because the snow is piled so high from the snow plows. But it is beautiful, and the ski areas and skiers are loving it. As are the snowmobilers.

We might be in school until July at this rate though.

Feels like it and when it smells like it, you KNOW you gonna get whalloped!

Rough weekend in NH for snow mobilers; 3 deaths, 1 was a 15 year old who was riding with dad...dad was rescued, the boy was not. Sad, sad, sad. The middle of the lake was wide open on Friday...SMH

That's awful. Our lakes have had a hard time freezing this year as well. And up here now it's hard to see the condition of the ice with 2 feet of snow on it!!!

We do have an early release day today, but an hour later than we usually do. We usually get out at 11, but we are getting out at noon today. We were supposed to have our District vocal and instrumental jazz competitions today, and they got postponed, which I an thankful for because we missed 2 days of practice for both (my kid/kids are in both groups), which we really needed.

Still saw 15 + kids even with a half day today!!!
