I will be conducting AED and Bloodborne pathogen inservices to faculty and staff at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year. This is the first time I have been asked to do this and I want to be sure I am covering all the bases. Do you recommend specific resources and training tools for these topics? I feel it would best to hold several smaller inservices, since I am responsible for 4 separate schools. Thoughts and suggestions greatly appreciated!

yuch!! My only advice is to be sure and not "attach" yourself to any element of the training material you use and don't "certify" that the trainees have obtained competence; don't connect yourself to anything that can come back to bite you in the back side if one of your trainees doesn't comply with what you have certified them to be able to do. For example, use self contained programs that provide their own competency tests. You're just starting the program, passing out tests, ending the program, and answering questions. This is really Human Resources responsibility but...enough said when you bring up HR.

We have a bloodborne pathogen video that they watch online, then they sign stating they have viewed it. As for AEDs, that is part of the CPR training, we don't do any separate AED only training unless someone asks. Anyone can do that though..it walks you through step by step.
