I am interested in applying for a position as a school nurse at a k-12 private Christian school in my area (Oklahoma). This school has never had a school nurse before. This school is currently not state accredited, but is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), but I believe they wish to seek state accredidation at some point in the future. My question is, do I need to seek state certification as a school nurse before accepting a position, or is this simply up to the school I am applying to? I have been working as an RN for several years, but I have not completed my BSN (I should be finished in about a year). Oklahoma requires a bachelors degree or higher to be certified as a school nurse. If anyone knows anything about this, I would appreciate your input! Thanks so much!

NASN has all the state organizations on their web site. This is the Oklahoma link. http://www.nasn.org/affiliates/oklahoma.htm
