Osha

  1. I am the school nurse for a private school that has been open for 2 years. I was just given the task of writting a workplace safety Program and Bloodborne Pathogens exposure plan. I started looking at the regulations, and this feels like a big undertaking! I have some information - but could use some direction - does anyone have any ideas on where to start?

    Try www.osha.gov
This site has the plan for BBP all spelled out, and is the site for all OSHA-related info.

The National Association of School Nurses has published a book titled, Occupational Exposure To Bloodborne Pathogens - Implementing OSHA Standards in School Settings. You can find the book on the NASN web site http://www.nasn.org click on bookstore, then catalogue. The item number is S010.
I hope this isn't considered advertising, but it is a good reference and starting point for what you're trying to accomplish at your school. I also work at a private school, so I understand the challenges that you're up against.
