We have ONE confirmed flu case in Kindergarten. I have checked 15 temperatures in K alone today of students who "feel warm" or "look tired"

Listen here.....we all feel warm because its 75 degrees out today and the heat is still on in our building and I am sure we all look tired too because....well...Monday + Full Moon.... heck let's just all go home!!!!

We have the pukes here!! Last week there was several. No temps, just belly.

Today right away I have a "k" come in she has vomited. Coughed and puked.

Knowing this kid is a chronic allergy kid and our weather the way it is, I called parent who said I forgot her allergy meds.

I give them to her and send her to class. She was fine. Just really bad allergies.

Teacher was not to happy. Half the school is vomiting and I don't send this one home.

I haven't had one in a while, but I just sent one home today with flu-like symptoms. UGHHHHH it's never ending!!!

We have Strep and Stomach bug running rampant here- a kid feels even slightly warm and they are sent to me. Scratchy throat? Must be strep. Too many temp checks to count at this point.

flu season is over!!

Not here, we are having an outbreak of Influenza A, 4 resident in the SNF I work have died. We are doing prophylactic Tamiflu for residents and staff. It is coming very soon that there won't be a "flu season".

My protocol by the school is basically this: Unless they are puking for an illness related thing (As in puking non-stop and are severely NOT feeling well) they are not going home.

I tend to check the child, keep them in my office for at least 15 mins or more, to see how they act. If they are jumping around, not vomiting and happily talking to me, and no fever, they are okay to go back to class.

I am a telephone triage nurse and I still can't figure out why parents call when their child has vomited ONE time. People stress out about fever and vomiting.
