Anyone from a state with mandated HPV vaccinations? How is the compliance and if you could give me a snapshot on a pushback scenarios? How is administration handling those not in compliance? TIA

I assume it would be handled the same way all mandated vaccinations are handled. Is this homework?

It is not mandatory in my state, only highly recommended. I imagine if that were to change it would be the same as the other mandatory vaccinations, like Kidzcare said.

Heard through the grapevine it's coming to NY and seeing a lot of push back in this neck of the woods.

I can understand the resentment. It's not something that can casually be passed on through a cough or some such thing. Big Brother can be odious at times, and of course there's probably Pharma money behind state pushes to add this to mandatory status.

Okay. And if prophylactic penicillin (or fill in the blank medication) was proven to prevent gonorrhea, should it be mandated?

I'm not against vaccinations, and would recommend getting the HPV one. I just think there are degrees of necessity that affect whether or not something should be mandated against a person's wishes.

I've yet to see proof that it is, or even in the works, but yes, good point on the gonorrhea.

Still waiting for OP to provide that link.

But, gonorrhea is treatable after transmission, and doesn't cause cancer. Just playing devil's advocate here.

I found this, not quite sure if this was what OP was referring to. http://www.ncsl.org/research/health/hpv-vaccine-state-legislation-and-statutes.aspx

I believe Texas was in the news a few years ago about mandating the vaccine. (Not sure about the current legal status of that.)Turned out that then-Gov. Rick Perry was cozy with manufacturer money concerns. Big surprise there.
