keeping records on staff members

Hi! I have been told in the past it's not a good idea to keep records on staff members who see me. Now, at another facility I am in trouble for NOT keeping records on staff members! Has anyone had this issue? Thoughts?

I do not keep records on staff. The only thing I have are emergency care plans for a couple of staff members that are diabetic, seizures etc.

This. I have a TA with a defib. And another with hx. of vaso vagal.

I don't. Unless they leave by ambulance.

Nothing gets reported to me, I usually find out when someone comes to me for an issue. I wish I could get information from teachers, have teacher forms, like I do the student forms!

we do not have specific names of staff in our system, I do document under "Staff, Staff". (not bandaids or tylenol, but bigger things).

Also, this just came up the other day here, one teacher is "deathly" allergic to nuts (I had no idea and neither did anyone else!). She has her own epi pen, but I said "it would be nice to know to know these things in case of an emergency".

So, do you guys have medical info on staff members?

I am not given ANY information unless a staff member chooses to share that with me, usually when they are having an issue. I'd like to have a form on the staff members just like the kiddos :)

We ask staff to fill out a form of health conditions and medications, totally voluntary. I asked staff to list any emergency information that I need to inform EMS of if needed.

This is what I did at my previous location, and got in trouble for! I think this is a GOOD thing.

Hey, do you have to have titres, immunizations and PPD on the teachers?

I don't.

First job I ever applied to that I didn't have to provide that.

I had to read this twice because when I first read it, it was not titres.

I thought she was using some fancy European spelling for "them.":bag:

LOL!

I had an old school nurse that taught me and that's how she spelled in. I do notice lots of people spelling it that way.

Anyway...?

i generally don't chart on staff unless it's significant. I do their worker's comp initial paper work (HR takes it from there should they have a big boo boo) so there is another form that i have to fill out. I don't always chart in into the healthmaster, but sometimes I do, but i always have the paper that I fill out for the WC for an at work injury. For minor things like band aids, boo boos, tylenol, no, i generally don't chart it. If a staff member were to leave by ambulance for something that was not WC related, I would make an entry.

No, I've worked for three different districts in the past 15 years, I've never had to do that!

You know... good questions. I only report kids and I only have a way to put visits or incidents for students in Skyward. I'm not sure, and I haven't been told to do anything about it.
