I have an ancient audiometer-- the tympanometer broke a few school nurses ago. I am looking to replace it for next year. What do you use for your hearing screening (and please don't tell me that your speech paths do this!!!)
I am looking at the Maico EroScan-- any comments?
Also, for vision, how many of you are using the SureSight? Like it, or is it overkill?
January is almost over-- Hurray!!

I use the Maico MA25 and it works great. Very user friendly. Not sure about other models though. I just use the Tumbling E chart for vision - low tech but works for most of even the littlest kiddos!

i have a maico ma27. it gets the job done - i would like something different but will NEVER have enough money in my budget for that. oh well...
for vision i use snellen charts. I have a titmus, but it takes so dang long to explain how it's used (my school is all kindergarten) that i reserve it only if i get an abnormal result the other way.
I just tried out the SureSight and the EroScan this morning- Whoo Weee! They are slick- I'm especially impressed with the SureSight-- really easy to get an accurate result in just a few seconds. And, I can do it all by myself! The EroScan is a little trickier, but still an objective screening tool-- I was told by a peer that the learning curve is a bit longer on that one.
Now, I just need to pray to the school nursing gods that a little money will come raining down on me!!
