charting in computors or paper files?

Hi I am interviewing for a LVN position tomorrow and was just wondering if charting is done electronically? I have never worked in a school before. Where I work now we are doing electronic charting which I know everyone is doing now, but we got started late. I work in a DR. office. I'm so glad to be using the computer after years of paper work and paper charts. I see a lot of posts about having to do a lot of paper work as a school nurse> Does that mean actual paper charts and writing or is everything on computer? I would hate to go backwards again. I appreciate any information. Thanks

It seems to vary by district. Ask during your interview and good luck!

Varies by district. Our district uses E-school which has a medical area for charting, immunizations, attaching files etc. My "paperwork" refers to sending out notices regarding immunizations, medications, Action plans etc - though I try to use emails as much as possible to save the paper/toner - we are on a paper/toner for printers lockdown at our school :)

In our school district, we use paper logs to sign off medications that we give and use a computer program for all documentations of student visits. Most programs have immunization logs, screening results and dates, etc. Each school district varies, depending on the computer program they are using. There are so many different computer programs – some good and many not so good.

We still use paper and hand write everything out which is time consuming. We do have a computer system which we could use but it's very limited, constantly crashes, and our subs wouldn't be able to see it to know if someone is a frequent flyer or anything else we'd have charted about them so for now we're still doing it the old-fashioned way!
