  1. Kindergartner got stung 7 times this afternoon while returning to the building after a fire drill. Thank goodness he isn't allergic!

Oh my! Was he near a hive? Did he kick it??

Bee stings scare me so much! So many kids have never been stung and who knows if they are allergic. I've thought that it would be a good idea for PE teachers to carry one of the stock epi pens when classes go outside. By the time a kid is having a severe reaction, it could be precious minutes before a nurse arrives.

His teacher said a single bee flew into his tshirt so it must have just freaked out and stung him multiple times.

Then I had another kiddo who IS allergic come in during recess and say he got stung! That freaked me out and I was pulling out his EpiPen when he described the "bee" to me. It was actually a mosquito. Phew!

Am I mistaken? I thought bees could only sting once and wasps were the malicious ones that would sting over and over. Still.... OUCH!

I just looked it up and apparently only honeybees sting once because they have a little hook on the stinger that rips it off the bee as it flies away. Wasps and other bees can sting multiple times.

See, I learn something new everyday with this job!
