We have measles in a district quite close to mine. Ugh.

I'm sorry, I can't even imagine dealing with parents with a pertussis outbreak.

We had two cases in the same class last month and I held my breath.:snurse::snurse:

Stupid anti-vaxxers. My son was reading a biography on Queen Elizabeth and they said her face broke out in white bumps. I said smallpox. Sadly, I couldn't tell him it was obliterated because of vaccines. I fear the worst is yet to come.

There were several cases (maybe 5-10) at my daughter's school a few months ago. Not the school I work at but in the same district. All the students who were diagnosed had been vaccinated.

That is the sad part, break down in herd immunization causes those who may not have seroconverted to be infected.

Glad I live in NY. We are one of the most stringent vaccine supporters. If you are not immunized, you cannot attend school. NOPE.

This is also why I stress to parents that yes, that tdap required for 7th graders really is that important...

I thought it was interesting when I had to have my titers drawn for my recent internship that I was not immune to Hep B, mumps, or ruebella. I had low numbers for measles and I was immune to chicken pox (had disease at age 3 or 4).

I had to get a Tdap, 2 MMR, the Hep B series, and have my titers redrawn. (all of this to do an internship at a place that I already work)

Mine, too! Every single one.
