i live in an area with a large ethnic population and it is not uncommon for the parents to start a home remedy and then want me to continue it at school. I usually won't indulge. But I have learned a lot about interesting home remedies - butter and salt on a bruise?? That was a new one for me.

We do warm salt water gargles, but I wouldn't give a child salt water to drink.

I used to buy the Morton's salt in the blue box for SWG. By the end of the year it got all clumpy. Last year I realized I can buy individual salt packets through MacGill's catalog. SWG is a mainstay up in here because it's one of the few things I can actually do to help a kid feel better.

I do salt water gargles all the time for my sore throats, but I caution them not to drink it.

Well unfortunately at this school I can't give anything like that unless it's a doctor's order
