hi guys

please please if you have any information on this hospital could you share, sounds good. whats pay, working conditions etc like??

what rhode island like to live?

thanks in advance

Hi ~ I don't know if you are working there now as this thread is a few months old, but I worked there as a traveler around 4 yrs ago. I liked RIH because it was a teaching hospital and the interns were extremely hands on and very helpful and I felt as if they respected us as nurses. The downpart was that I would have 9-10 (at night) patients on a medical-telemetry floor (r/o MI's), be charge, and draw our own labwork.

Reading through these boards it looks as if it is not uncommon to have that many patients but I found it overwhelming and I did not feel as if there were a lot of support personnel.

I feel that Rhode Island is beautiful with it's quaint little sections, the ocean is close by, the diverse cultures. The area surrounding the hospital is not the greatest but I never felt unsafe.

i can recommend rhode island hospital as a place to work to.benefits, work opportunities and pay are all great.i can say it is a city compared to where i came from in nc.goodluck!

Dear am17sg05,

What part of Providence is RIH in? What is housing like in Providence? Is it quite is expensive?

RIH is in an urban section. all around it is very low income. it is called south providence. I would not live there even if it was a mansion. there is plenty of housing in providence and surrounding cities on bus lines that are more economical. Just don't plan on living in walking distance from the hospital. there is plenty of security on the grounds and the surrounding area so you feel safe when you walk to your car but that is it. the bus goes right to the main entrance of the hospital. good luck
