by Shayrey Apr 29, '11I am a recently licensed nurse (ASN) w/no medical field experience except for my clinicals, that being said, is a nursing home a good place to get my career started? Ive applied to a lot of hospitals for the last several weeks but I have not heard anything back from anyone, 3 of them were for graduate nurse positions. I'm getting really desperate, Ive heard that a nursing home is not the ideal place for a new grad but I really need a job. This particular position is on a subacute unit of the nursing home, will this help me attain the skills I need? ANY ADVICE IS VERY APPRECIATED!

- May 5, '11 by katyb213I have been wondering the same thing! I figure any experience is good but I honestly don't know if I should just wait it out and keep trying for hospitals either.
- May 5, '11 by ShayreyI was just offered a position but now it's for alzheimers/dementia patients not subacute....Don't know what to do! Do you happen to know how long it takes for apps to be reviewed?
