Re: Anyone else apply to or starting at St. Joe's in the fall?
In first semester you are assigned to a clinical professor and either group A (thurs) or group B (fri), you don't get to choose. I was in group B so I had clinical on Friday, which meant I had to pick up my assignment on thursday (after 1230) and I had wednesday off. If you are in group A then you get your assignment on wednesday, have clinical thursday, then have friday off. Obviously most people would prefer group A so they can have a 3 day weekend, so that is why they don't let you choose. Either way, you do get the whole day off which is good. And the day you pick up your assignment is a pretty easy day too because you are only spending an hour (or more or less depending on the situation) getting the assignment and you can get it at any time of the day after 1230. I don't remember the schedule that well, but I know there are labs and other things thrown in here and there on certain weeks and there are certain weeks you won't have clinical at all.
Don't sweat the book review at all. Follow the guidelines exactly as they tell you, and make sure you follow APA style. Basically just give a brief overview of the book (I'm assuming it is still a Mitch Albom book) and then just critique his style, give negatives and positives, etc...you know, the same boring stuff you did in high school. I think everyone got As.
And ya that is probably me that your sister was talking to. I just started working there and a lot of my coworkers are in nursing school or trying to get in. Does your sister work on the children's unit on evenings? I think that is who mentioned their sister was going to St. Joes but it could be someone else.
Let me know and I will see you in a few weeks...hope you are ready!
