I am seeking your advice regarding my research.
I am going to search in antihypertensive medication adherence from patients' perspective. I thought about using patient reporting method by providing questionnaire but this method has it's disadvantage since patients might report incorrect information such as being adherent while they are not. The very accurate method according to the literature is electronic monitoring. In my sample I can't use the electronic method because I don't think all my participants will be using computer to report their medication information.
Nurses, have you come across any ideas that can be suitable method or study design to assess patients' adherence to medications?
Another thing that I would like to know your opinion about is that this type of study that I am going to do is in the field of community nursing. In my future I am going to join a job that is based in medical and surgical nursing care. As you know that community nurses are specified for primary health care issue while medical and surgical nurses for secondary and tertiary care. How my search will add to my knowledge in the future? I am afraid that in the future if I am going to do some studies I will be stuck in primary care nursing care and I won't be able to know much or search in medical and surgical nursing field. I am saying that because i am still student and new in the researching area.
Your opinions about that are welcomed.
