I have been working as a psychiatric RN for three years in October. I will be transferring to an inpatient rehab around the end of September. From my understanding, most patients are those recovering from falls, stroke, etc. It has a 1:7 nurse patient ratio with one to two techs. The patients have to meet at least 3 hours of physical therapy. They do have dialysis patients, tube feedings, blood transfusions and of course wound care. I'm a bit nervous because I haven't done hardly any med surg since nursing school
, but I have retained a lot of it and I will have a month of orientation. I will be working day shift. I am very excited about this opportunity to get some med surg experience and work somewhere outside of primarily psychiatric care, I just wanted to say hello to all the rehab nurses out there!
