Re: Weekend - Rehab Inpatient Unit
When I worked weekend double shifts on the rehab unit, the facility would pay a $500 bonus per day to an occupational therapist from a staffing agency, in addition to his hourly pay rate, to come in on Saturdays and Sundays for group therapy sessions with the patients. This kept the patients occupied during the weekend.
When the facility was trying to save money, they would enlist the cheaper services of a LPTA (licensed physical therapy assistant) or COTA (certified occupational therapy assistant) to come in on weekends to exercise the patients.
If all else fails, you guys can hire a weekend restorative aide to conduct exercise activities with the patients. The restorative aide would fall under the nursing discipline, since this person would be an experienced CNA.
