    Hi all,

Im a new grad working at a rehab hospital. I enjoy the work, but I'm thinking in the future i would like to try getting on at a rehab unit in a hospital. I'm not planning to make the jump for about another year, but I would like to know if there are any certifications I should think about persuing at this time. I like rehab alot, but I want to eventually get to a hospital setting so i can up my skills and nursing prowess. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome!

You can get rehab certified ( once you have 2 years experience; med/surg certification is out there, too if you're looking to open things up a bit more

CCRN will make you more marketable. Also try to attend any kind of wound, IV, ACLS classes, etc that are provided to you free by the rehab.

Hi, I am in the same position as you. I love rehab but i am really looking to make a move to acute hospital setting. I don't know about where you practice but it's been tough in the tristate. So to improve my chances, I agree with Nurse Robert, get certified in ACLS and IV to start with because a lot of the jobs i see out there have those requirements.
