Thoughts on best Peer Reviewed Nursing Journal

Hello All,

I am looking to subscribe to a peer reviewed journal to keep up to date with what's going on in our field. I currently have subscription letters from American Journal of Nursing (AJN) and Nursing2012. Any suggestions which I should choose or if there is a better one? Thanks!!

Those, in my opinion, are both crap (not to put too fine a point on it). I prefer The Western Journal of Nursing Research.

It depends on what type of information you are looking for. Are you looking for academic research articles? Summary articles that are more educational in nature? News of political/social issues affecting the profession? Is there a certain clinical specialty you are most interested in? etc.

The "best" journal for you depends on your particular needs.

Well I was searching for a journal geared more towards education and development. I am a new nurse interested in staying current in my field. The academic reseach journals are nice but I believe are more suited for students and researchers. Does this narrow it down at all?

It helps ... but what is your field? Peds? OB? Geriatrics? OR? ED? etc.

I am a Med-Surg nurse. I live in Florida so I the population I serve is predominantly geriatric patients. But the journal can be for a more generalized population.
