RN to BSN: Online vs On-campus programs

I'm a working RN from So Cal who is looking to go back to school to get my BSN. I have been looking at schools with online programs. I thought it would be more convinient to do an online program, since I would do school work on "my own time". But I also know there are on-campus programs that are flexible, with classes being held once a week.

My concern is that online programs leave A LOT of room for procrastination, which can easily lead to failure. But then again, how flexible are on-campus programs when you work full time?

I would like the opinion/input from those who completed their BSN from either online or campus setting and were working full time.

I have two online nursing degrees and couldn't have done it any other way. Yes, you have to do the work. No, no one is standing over you with a ruler. I was always so thrilled to be getting my work done in my PJs I had no trouble, but that is up to you. I feel I got a great education with both, good luck. Honestly I think brick and mortar schools would be a waste of time and money.

I also received an online nursing degree (ASN) and am almost finished with my BSN online through a different program. I love both schools. No complaints. Yes, it is easy to get distracted and slack off a bit, at least for me. BUT, if you stay focused and keep your goal in mind you will finish successfully. It's great completing your school work at your own pace, on your own time. It's also way cheaper! I was working full-time the whole time, and still am :)

P.S.- I have tried traditional programs as well, and definitely prefer to do it online! I don't regret a thing!

I will attent the first night of class of my RN-BSN program tonight. I thought long and hard about what would be a better fit for me. I have taken classes online before and I am just a better student in the classroom. and that is important to me. I found a program that will be the same night and time every week from start to finish, so I won't have to switch up scheduling each semester. I am looking forward to the face to face instruction, support, and connections that cohort classes bring.
