NEED ADVICE!!!- Online RN to BSN

Nursing Students ADN/BSN

Published

Hi all!

As a few of y'all know I recently graduated from my ADN program and have started my nursing career in the ED at a local hospital.

My question is,since I know alot of you have taken advantage of the online programs and know more about them than I do at this point is this:

I live in NC, I would like a RN-BSN ONLINE ONLY program that is accreddited but oh my goodness at all the mess google brings up, it's overwhelming!

B/c of the work load I have now, I wouldn't have time to do any type of clinicals like I did in my ADN program.

PLEASE help, any advice or school information is going to be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Several of the state schools in NC offer an online RN-BSN programs. I would recommend looking at UNCW, UNCC, UNCG, UNCA, NC A&T, and ECU. As a NC resident, you would likely find the tuition costs much less than from online for-profit institutions.

There is much less clinical components to RN-BSN programs than any pre-licensure programs. For example, the RN-BSN program at my own institution only has 56 precepted hours in the program.

I've researched alot of programs and there's only two out of them all that I can say off the top, and they're Chamberlain University (Chamberlain.edu) and Oklahoma Weslyan University (okwu.edu). Both offer RN-BSN online only programs with NO CLINICALS period. They both have expensive tuition ranging from about $400-$500 per credit hour. Check with the institution for precise rates. You'll need statistics with Chamberlain if you don't have it already, but OKWU doesn't require statistics. I actually just started classes with Chamberlain. I seriously considered OKWU only because they didn't require statistics, but I would have had to take four classes more than I would at Chamberlain. Heck, I'd rather pull out my hair with statistics than have to take 4 extra classes. Hope this helps and best wishes on whatever you decide.
