by HOPE1932 Dec 30, '12I have my BSN and some master classes. My goal is to stay at the hospital I am at, practicing at an advanced level. I have been in endoscopy for 7 of my 11 years and would consider working for one of the GI docs. What degree do I need. Thanks

Do you want to function as an NP -- assessing patients, writing orders, etc.? Then you should probably go the NP route. But if you want to coordinate patient care as a Clinical Nurses Specialist ... or Clinical Nurse Leader ... or do staff education ... or patient education ... etc. you might want to go another route.
My advice is to do a little research on the various advanced practice roles and see which one matches best with the type of work you want to do. In addition, research your local job market to see what types of jobs are available for people educated in the various types of nursing roles.elkpark likes this.
