Applying for BSN program

  1. 0
    Hey all,

Even though I just became an RN in July 2003, I am sending my application to the BSN program at the University of Washington. I hope they accept me! (I do work at the UW hospital for goodness sakes)
It's amazing 'cause when I was in school, I was surrounded by ADN grads but now at my work, the majority have BSNs and I'm the minority! I guess it shows how much they encourage furthering your education there.
    I'll let you know...

Oh well, if a hospital won't hire me without a BSN, I guess I'll have to go to the next one down the street that will. Where I live, there are an equal number because we have a very large junior college that has a nursing program and a very large university that has a nursing program, as well as a private university that has a nursing program. But the hospitals in the area don't seem to care what degree a person has.

    Until I can't work as a nurse without a BSN, I won't get one.

Hey - I just sent my application in for UW too - good luck and best wishes!

When I talked with the director of the RN-BSN program, she said that they only turn away at most 5 students a year....

I am just terrified that I am going to be one of those 5 students!

Good luck to both of you! I'm finishing an ADN to BSN with University of Phoenix and will go right on into the MSN then. Education is worth it.

Good luck! Bravo for recognizing that continuing your education not only benefits the patient, it benefits you as a professional.

I am with UoP also ..... great program ... I only have 6 classes left before I am done with the BSN, then on to the MSN. Is your employer paying for most of your classes or are you going to be in enternal debt like me?:uhoh21:

Yeah - I am excited - so ready to get done with this.... I graduated May 2000 and I need my BSN so I can move to Zimbabwe. I just found out that my unit is going to be open 24/7 now - there go my weekends. I am actually happy though - I was trying to figure out how I was going to work 3 12hr nights and not have to rush either to school or from school - so now I have it worked out that I can relax a bit.

Are you planning on going full or part time? I think I am going to go part time. Harborview will pay for more of it that way and I won't be as stressed!

Hope you find out soon.... the waiting is torture!

    Lori
