Anyone know of an online ADN-BSN program that wraps pre-requisites into the overall..

program? I keep finding claims for ADN-BSN in one year or so, but they all want ridiculous amounts of pre-requisite courses- looks more like a two or three-year expedition to get all the pre-reqs first. Is there a program capable of offering a single, concise transition all the way from ADN to BSN?

I went to Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences online RN to BSN program. It took me 2 1/4 years because I had co-reqs to take. They have no "pre-reqs" other than your ADN and allow you take any needed courses through them. For example I took chemistry and statistics fairly early in the program, and also took world religions and western civ. http://onlinenursing.fhchs.edu/

Thanks Tweety! I'll check that out- sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Can you tell me anything more about the setup, like how much homework/papers are required, and how reasonable it would be to fit the BSN upgrade into a full-time work/kayaking schedule? Thanks!

Hi Chris. The program is tough in that the classes are accellerated to 8 week semesters, but very managable for the person working full time. There are a combination of papers, teaching projects, tests, and a live online chat once a week. I worked 3 12's a week, went to the gym and went bowling once a week, and managed just fine.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

ADN programs have a lot less pre-reqs than BSN programs (shockingly less IMO...in CA a ASN nurse does not have to have any chemistry!) This makes it harder for those ASN-BSN nurses because there are even more courses that they have to have for their BSN not including the regular GE courses for a BS degree. I heard of one on-line program Delmar College in Corpus Christi. I don't know if they combine the pre-reqs within the program, but if they do I imagine it would be intense.

Try looking into the University of Phoenix. They have an RN to BSN program that sounds like what you are looking for.... They will look at your transcripts from your ADN program and let you know what units you have left to take to graduate with your BSN. There are no pre-reqs per say, just graduation requirements. Hope this makes sense!

I'll check out their porgram- I'm also looking at Western Governors' University, which not only rolls in pre-reqs, but also uses a competency-based graduation system to allow previous knowledge and quick learning to pay off. They don't use letter grades, and are not yet accredited by CCNE (they expect to be so by March or sooner.) I just sent requests to my favorite few CRNA schools to see what they thought about the school as a step toward entry into their programs- I'll post those results once I've collected them. Thanks!

Answers from CRNA schools (pending CCNE accreditation by ) varied from a firm no from a school (I think) in SLC to maybes from a couple others, and a yes from Samuel Merritt, my first choice. All requested a separate stats course for the requisite B. Sounds like WGU would limit some options, and might reqire an unusually strong ADN GPA to put together a competitive application. Good luck!

I'm going to Chatham University ( http://www.chatham.edu ). To get their BSN through their RN-BSN program. One reason I picked Chatham was the fact that to graduate you only need 8 core nursing classes, no pre-reqs or co-reqs (I am however taking stats anyway, since I haven't decided if I want to go to grad school and stats would be required).
