Any Hospital Diploma Programs Out There??

If anyone knows of any hospital in the United States that offers a Diploma program or Certificate Program in order to get an ADN, please let me know. I heard there are not that many still around, but there are hospitals that have their own School of Nursing within, and you can work there and gain practical experience while they certify you to be an RN. I think that was the original way they taught nurses to be LPN or RN a long time ago. By teaching them in the hospital and certifying them there. I am just trying to figure out where they are! I'm in Texas but I've heard most may be on the East coast, but I'm not sure. I would love to go that route, because I am trying to get practical training asap while earning my ADN because I plan on doing missionary work in India soon, and I need to practically learn hands-on as much as I can in a real hospital setting, and come out being an RN with already learned experience in the field. Someone please help me out! i don't know my options -Robin

University of Pennsylvania used to offer a program as well as Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Check them out, not sure if they still do.

There are several in Pennsylvania. Look at their State Board of Nursing site.

there is watts school of nrsg in durham, nc @ durham regional hospital.

also, bridgeport hospital school of nursing (my mom's alma mater) in bpt, ct @ bridgeport hospital.

i'm sure theres lots more!

Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport CT has an RN program. You take the nursing courses at the Hospital school of nursing but you take the other courses (A&P, micro, psych, etc) all at the community college or private college/uni of your choice. If you complete 16 credits at the 200 level or higher, take an additional English course on top of the 101 you need to enter, and I think take 2 more courses you can get your Associates Degree. If you chose not to do that you graduate with a diploma but no degree.

Not sure if Connecticut is an option for you, but here is the website in case you are interested. Its the only hospital based nursing school in Connecticut now.

The Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences - Nursing Program is a diploma program located outside of Philadelphia, PA and has been training nurses since 1889. It is affiliated with Kutztown University and is a 2-year (Fall, Spring and Summer semesters) hospital-based diploma program. The entiire program can be completed on site, nursing classes are taught by RHSHS faculty and gen ed classes are taught at the RHSHS facility by Kutztown University staff.

In NJ we have several..but 2 of which I'm applying to: Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing - 2 years..diploma only. There is also Trinitas School of Nursing..you can do a diploma only path..or get your Associates. There's also Christ Hospital in Hudson County.

I know there are more but those are the ones off of the top of my head..

Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas has a hospital based LVN program, and then an evolving LVN to RN upper mobility program to soon start. Good Luck :redbeathe

There are still 6 diploma programs here in Virginia too. But several of the local Magnet and academic medical centers are not hiring diploma grads as novice nurses.

There are several in Pittsburgh, PA. St. Margaret's School of Nursing, Shadyside School of Nursing, Ohio Valley School of Nursing, West Penn Hospital School of Nursing. All of these are hospital based RN diploma programs.
