ABSN versus BSN

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum and would like some advise in regards to the ABSN program in California versus a traditional BSN program for prespective students who already have a bachelor degree in a different field.

What is it exactcly that you are asking.

Are you asking what these degree's are. Or are you asking for what is the advantage of one degree over the other and trying to decide which is the best for you?

There are what they call 'accellerated BSN' programs for persons who hold a bachelor's degree in another field. It's a very intense, double-time program that gets you a BSN in a year.

Most ADN programs take two years.

If you have the good grades and are willing to work very, and I mean very hard, the go for the accellerated BSN and get the BSN.

Read the various threads, and the stickey's above. There are varying opinions about ADN vs. BSN.

The BSN affords more opportunities on down the road with experience. Both degrees will get you an RN and to the bedside making essentially the same amount of money. The BSN would be an investment in the future, rather than show immediate gains.
