RN and CT

by RNLex

Would love to know how other facilities handling this - In NY, CT Tech supposedly can not hook tubing from power inject of CT to patient's IV. During the day M-F we have a Rad RN - offshifts and weekends it is now expected the ED nurse to hook tubing, monitor for infilitation during test phase and then can leave. MD must be available, doesn't have to be in room. How are others handling?

You should not have to do anything that is not in your job description-find out if you are covered legally to do this task

Piggy Bank Re: RN and CT
Like I stated before, I am in Texas, but I am a RN that works in the CT department and I don't hook the patients up. The rad techs do it, i am just around in case someone has a reaction to the contrast or needs something done...like resetting the pumps.

Hi-sorry for the misunderstanding-the registered nurses hook up from 9am to 5pm, and then the Radiologist hooks up between those hours. However, this is here in Ireland, so will then be different where you are. I hope some one else can help you there.
