RFA for WPW question

by 5780

I have a question for all the experts out there. What is the progression for return to normal activities after a radio-frequency ablation for WPW? Are there restrictions specific to the RFA, or is it just like any other angiogram? Thanks for your help with this!

I have no experience helping with RFAs, however in my mind, technically it's a sophisticated right heart cath, not an angiogram.
Venous access, not arterial.
So, the post-procedure bedrest time would probably (guessing here) be similar to that of an angiogram pt who has an AngioSeal or StarClose: 2-3 hr.
Unless the pt is routinely anticoagulated during the study. Once again, no experience here.
As for activities/recovery post-discharge?? See below:

Here's a link to one article I found online (using search words "post RFA WPW patient instructions"), which outlines what instructions they give to their pts:

http://www.cardiologyassociatespc.co...ate&cpid=17572

And one from MedHelp, on the Heart Forum (Q & A):

Hope that helps.
