crazy with sedation

What kind of "super crazy reaction" did your pt have???

I've not used Demerol for many years (we're not allowed it anymore), but have seen some pts, although they're sedated with the Versed, become very active with arms and legs: bending legs, reaching and stretching w/arms, etc.
And, it's hard to predict who will respond in what way to the meds at any given time (although we ask all the important questions, pts may withhold information of past experiences, or downplay frequency of recent recreational drug or alcohol use, which use can impact response to sedation meds).

Adequate sedation is an art, a fine line walked, a balancing act.
