QI/QA Pay Scales

Hi, I currently work in QA although I'm not a nurse....yet. I'm going to start nursing school in four weeks.

My job just offered me a considerable raise and I'm trying to decide whether I just take the raise and forego nursing school....at least temporarity.

My question is twofold:
Do QI/QA nurses get paid more considerably than bedside nurses
Given my experience in QA, will I be able to go straight into a clinical QA job

I work in LTC, and am salaried......a bit over what I was making "on the Floor". No OT if I work over 8 hours a day, but if I fill in for someone who does a c/o.....I get comped.

To work in a Quality Improvement department nurses often take a pay cut due to the normal work hours

I am a QI nurse and I could be making 15% more being a bedside nurse like I was (Float Pool)

I also got 2.75% raise when direct care got a minimum of 5%...............

I'm a QI RN and I took a considerable paycut from the Medical Staff nurse position I came from. Traded off for the salaried, 4 ten-hour, no weekend, no holiday schedule. But in the end, the paycheck is still smaller.

Most places I worked offered no difference in base pay regardless of where you worked. I did lose my shift and weekend differentials when I accepted my position in PI. My advice to you is go to school. No matter what they will pay you, you will make up after a few years as an RN. The mobility, flexibility and job availability will be greater than any position they may offer you. I do not know what state you live in, however I would compare the salary offered with the average RN wage. Check out also the difference in benefits and ability to work overtime. After you graduate from nursing school you would have a very good chance of getting a QI job after you have some basic knowledge of hospital routines. You will have job security as the nursing shortage is real not only here but internationally. Good Luck.

Does anyone know the average salary for RN quality improvement coordinators.
I came from OB bedside nursing I was working 72 hrs per pay period, now I work 80 and make less.
I am really curious what the average salary is

QI pays less, and no usually they want bedside experience/

I could make more as a bedside nurse.

I could make 15% more plus weekend, evening, holiday pays that range from $2 to 14 more per hour (time and a half for holiday pay)

I chose to have a M-F, 8-4, no weekends, no holidays, no on-call,no called of, no overtime type of a job that also my body doesn't get hurt by too much lifting, walking,etc,etc.
