Do you mean, to be on an inspection team as a member?

You might try looking at their website: http://www.jcaho.org/

(one other little tiny thing, it stands for Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, so it would be JCAHO rather than JACHO.... )

I agree with the posters above! Get a manual, its called CAMH costs about $500.00 and go online to www.jcaho.org.

If you have any specific questions let us know. I am the JCAHO Coordinator for my hospital. (Hey, its a job!)

I am looking to be on an inspection team.
I got little satisfaction from a person I contacted on the website.
Think it may take a person who is doing Jcaho currently to help out a bit.
I'm sure they are swamped with people hitting their website.

Any ideas from anyone would be appreciated.

So do you mean you would like to be a JCAHO Surveyor? One of the people who goes into healthcare organizations and survey?

Now that is something that I know little about... But there has to be somebody at the web site who could help you. Maybe call them rather than trying e-mail.

OK, I found a place on the JCAHO Web Site Home Page called Careers. Go there then you can go to "Surveyor Career Opportunities". It answers alot of questions.

Good Luck!

You can also do a search for government jobs. Sometimes they have information on the website. There are only a few areas in the United States where you can actually work. I was a surveyor for medicaid and we traveled all the time, although my office was local. If you want to be a surveyor, be ready to spend a lot of time in a hotel!! It's a fun but sometimes lonely job.

HI--

First, it is JCAHO: "Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations." So, in contrast to the title of this thread, it is JCAHO and not "jacho."

Everybody has to abide by the same rules, they are spelled out in your state nurse practice act, and you know them because you are a practicing LPN.

Look up Joint Commission in Wikipedia--you'll probably find everything you want to know there.

I already posted the link to the actual Joint Commission website, but here it is again:

www.jointcommission.org

Good Luck!
