RRT/RN How to become ECMO certified

  1. 0 Hi,

Does anyone know the best way for an RN or RRT to become ECMO certified? I can't find much information about this topic online.

Currently, at least in the US, ECMO specialists are trained and credentialed by the hospitals that they work for. I know that ELSO (Home - Extracorporeal Life Support Organization), the professional organization for ECMO personnel, was working on a certification program. It sounds like it is going to be a certification for currently practicing ECMO specialists, not an entry-level program for prospective specialists. In a nutshell, if you work for an ECMO center, contact your ECMO team. Good luck to you!
