ET tube holders

  1. 0 I am looking for info on methods used to secure ET tubes and the pros and cons of the methods used. In our facility RT uses the tape or the twill tie method. Nursing would like to use ET tube holders/devices. Any info/literature/research is appreciated.

I've been a critical care nurse for a long time. We've used the tape and adhesive holders. The holder has 2 skinny pieces to go around the tube and the middle part is 1" wide. I feel the adhesive ones hold as good as the tape. The holders also are easier to keep clean as the outer material is coated with plastic so secretions don't soak in. It's been so long since I've used twill for this, I do remember that the twill sould slide easily.
