I am interested in public health nursing or administration. Currently I have a B.A. in an unrelated field (liberal arts) and am working on an A.D.N. at a community college. I am wondering how to get into this field. I understand you need a B.S.N. but perhaps my time might be better spent getting a M.P.H. (if I can get into a program). What do you think?

am doing a community health nursing program and would like to get the best site to get information on microbiology.what advice can you give me

Some schools have a Direct Entry MSN program for people who already have a Bachelors Degree in another discipline; which may be a better route if you can get it. An MPH program is geared more toward department administration

My alma matter, University of Wyoming, has a 15-month 2nd bachelor's BSN program which includes community health as a part of the curriculum. In Wyoming, anyway, to be a PHN (public health nurse) you only need to have a BS with an RN (so ADN would work), or, more preferably, a BSN. an accelerated program like UW would help you get a nursing degree, a bachelor's at that, in possibly less time than an ADN. Let me know if you have questions about UW's program! I know many other nursing schools have accelerated or online programs.

PNCC2001, So do you think an MSN would be "just as good" as getting an MPH?

It really depends on what you want to be doing in Public Health once you finish.
