I've been looking up PHN certificate programs today and they all say that they are for students who hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from a program which was not approved for Public Health Nursing. I went to UNC-Chapel Hill and graduated in 2000. How do I find out if we were approved for PHN? We had a community health class; I did a rotation in school health nursing. It was my favorite part of school. And if we were approved for PHN, how do I go about applying for a certificate in PHN?
    Thanks so much everyone!

  4. It depends on your state. In California if you have a BSN with course work in Public Health all you have to do is submitt an application for a Public Health Certificate and pay $75. If you are not sure about your school I would call the BRN.
  5. Thanks! I haven't heard of it so maybe it isn't that way in North Carolina.
