    Hi,

I know you posted this a long time ago, but I am new to this community and was just reading some posts. Anyway, did you ever find out how to get into Public Health Nursing with your ADN? I am graduating from RN school in August and I am interested in going into PHN. Let me know. Thanks

I am an ADN and have been a PHN for almost three years. I did have six years of nursing experience in other areas...acute care, geriatric, Hospice...but I don't think the prior experience influenced my getting the current job. I say go for it...contact your county (or city) health department!!

    Hi,

How did you get your job in public health nursing? Tell me about your background. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks!

PHN is not a degree. It is a title put on people who work out in the community for the health dept. either county or state. The need for a BSN for certain jobs is at the disgreeion of the hireing health dept.
