I am a new grad (spring '10) in my 6th month on a progressive care/tele floor. I've known that I don't want to stay in the hospital, but also knew that this unit would give me the best foundation that I can get. I LOVED my community health class in school and LOVED the clinicals. I really like emergency management, vulnerable populations (especially the elderly), and being OUT in the community :-) I got my emt certification last summer and plan on taking the paramedic cert test sometime next year. I loved being out in the community with my EMT clinicals and helping people at some of their most terrifying times. My question is should I get my masters in public health? I know I definitely want to expand my education past my bachelor's degree. I just don't know the best route into public health nursing. I plan on staying on this unit for 1-2 years to get my experience and star school again. Where do I go from here? Any public health nurses in south florida on here? What is the job market like down here?

i am wondering the same thing..i love community and public health, i believe it will suite me best. Ive been "googling" for awhile and it looks like you can just get a certification when you receive your bachelors, go the msn/mph route, or do and msn- public health nursing track... i would also like to know the route some other phn or cns nurse took to get there...
