Time to renew my CPI. Why can't CPI be 2 years lie everything else. What a scam.

We don't use CPI but use Critical Crisis Management.... It's a yearly renew too. I don't mind

What's the big deal? I have to renew my facility's crisis program (not CPI) annually, and I just figure getting paid for being in the class for the day beats working. :)

I always figure it's a day with pay...

Besides, I don't use the skills much, and every chance I get to refresh them is a benefit to me, for the future.

I think CPI is fun and I don't have to pay for it so I really don't mind.

At least the renewal isn't 8 hours like the initial class.

The way I see it, If they want to pay me my hourly rate to sit in a classroom for a few hours, then bring on the blackboard!

Hey, they usually provide snacks and fluids too!

CPI was two years in my last place - but we use TMVI in my new place and we have in house trainers that do regular refreshers

I have to go to a two-day training for another type of crisis management course. Two full days, so that's 16 hours in the classroom total. But at a pay rate of about $50/hour...IMO, I'd be a fool to complain :) They may be long and at times boring days, but I'm going to be compensated handsomely for attending. Neverminding I'm also learning something that I'll need for the job, and have something new to put on the resume.

I am glad to brush up on skills I rarely have to use.

We do 2 years, with a yearly mini refresher.

We don't use CPI but something similar. We have to do an annual 8 hour training and I find it tedious as the morning session on verbal de-escalation is the same thing every year (x10 for me now). As in the SAME THING. Handouts don't change and neither does the presentation. And it's taught by someone who hasn't ever practiced psych nursing and spends the entire 4 hours talking about herself. With that said, the afternoon portion of physical interventions is quite helpful as we don't use those skills often. I would like to see it just be the afternoon session.
