New Grad in Psych Nursing

I am a Nursing Student who would like to go in to psych nursing right after I graduate and pass the NCLEX. Does this sound reasonable. I will be graduating with an Associates degree in Nursing and would like to start working with adult psych patients right away. (I don't want an internship or to work for free --I have student loans to pay)http://icons.an-file.info/question.png

I went straight into pysch and haven't regretted it so far. So it's a reasonable expectation.

If you want to start in psych, you'll need to do your preceptorship in psych.

That would be the best, as it'd be invaluable when you start looking for that first job. However, if for whatever reason you can't do a preceptorship there, it's not mandatory--I didn't have mine in psych and still was able to land a psych job

I just graduated in December and passed my NCLEX on Tuesday! I have a psych job that I start on the 11th. So I say it's very reasonable to think that.

I just graduated on 12/12/09, and I have been working as a RN extern in psych for 7 months. I landed my first RN job on this unit and start working officially on the 4th. I take my Nclex on the 25th so wish me luck. Thanks

CONGRATULATIONS on passing I am going to be new to psych, however, I am not a new nurse. Can you please share in details with me all about the job! I went for my first interview last week, but don't know what to expect.
